Medical Breakthrough: I think I have the cure for every illness in the world! And you should consider yourself lucky since I am sharing it with you for free. The cure: Peel & cut & slide & dice 100 onions within 20 minutes! I just did that and my throated cleared up, my nasal cavity unclogged and after days of cold, I can finally smell things all of a sudden. Uh, that reminds me, I need to clean my room. It's stinking bad! LOL.
Just got back home. I think I did pretty good in my Calc2 exam. Not very sure though. I might have made a silly mistake here and there.
Tomorrow we have a party @ our house and about 100-110 people are gonna come over. Meaning everyone has to do a LOT of work to prepare for the evening. I personally have to peel potatoes, peel onions, lift and setup tables, rent about 100 chairs and set them up, set up the computer and big screen tv for the game that I'm gonna host, and blah blah blah. I'm still dead tired from my Calc exam late-nights and lack of sleep. My friends say I look like a zombie... oh well... I'll be happy on Sunday! No work no more! (Or that's what I HOPE)...
I wish I had more time and energy to put funny stuff in here but alas... I have to go now and study study study... :(
Calc Girl Update: Well I dunno what to say in this regard. I saw her on Tuesday, said hi-hello, and I went my way, she went hers. I was just sooo cranky and annoyed by staying up and studying all Monday-night that I didn't feel like talking to anyone. I'll see her tomorrow. Let's see what happens...
Calculus is going to suck the life out of me. Already I am sleeping an average of 3 hours a night since last 2 weeks. Now tonight I'll prolly stay up all night without any sleep! Sometimes I wonder why I study sooo hard.
Anyways, I'm getting like hundreds of emails everyday about Glass2k. So things are good on that front. A lot of magazines worldwide want to include my programs in their free CD's, so I'm pretty happy about it. I really need to complete IM'napper... It's over a year since I've been using it almost every single day and yet the world has no knowledge of it. Haha. Maybe over this winter break I'll complete it and also LogIM. Or maybe TrayPlay 2? I have soooo much stuff to do...
Too busy w/ studies (Calc2 basically) to write a detailed 'blog :(
I might put Chime.Tv back online tomorrow. Not sure though. As long as ppl keep hittin me, I'm not gonna put it up.
Quote for the day: "I have had my 15 minutes of fame and it cost me $98.30" - Chirag Mehta
I have pulled off my main site : Chime.Tv cuz even now thousands of people are going there constantly! I cannot afford this excessive bandwidth usage :( It's just toooo much for me to handle.
I don't have enuf words to thank my friend Vicky! She got me three really cool newspapers from UK: The Guardian, The Sun and The Daily Telegraph. Well as some of you already know, I have this little hobby, that I collect newspapers from all the countries of the world. So far I have newspapers from Japan, Netherlands, India, Puerto Rico, US, UK, Trinidad etc. This is like a lfe-long hobby and someday I will have one newspaper each from almost every country in the world! :)
Quote for the day: "my name is tom. i sing a song. my name is tom. and i like alpha blending in my gui. la la la tom." - Random Glass2k user.
SlashdottedMon, 26th Nov '01, 2:50 pm::
I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but will people STOP going to my site!!! Well actually the thing is, my new prog Glass2k, which I made last week, got mentioned in Slashdot.org - The biggest computer discussion site in the world!!!
As a result, over half a million people came to my Chime.Tv site within a duration of 5-6 hours. This resulted in the crashing of my servers, excessive bandwidth usage, and shutdown of my main site. Not a pretty thing if you ask me. Well believe it or not, I GOT SLASH-DOTTED! You may not know a lot about Slashdot.org, but believe me, getting mentioned on front page of Slashdot is probably the biggest honor a computer professional can achieve (except a million $ in raw cash). Haha.
Oh and my Dad is now the most famous Dad on the Internet! LOL. You see his pic was in there in the screenshot for Glass2k and I'm sure over a million people have already seen this pic.
Finally I get some peace and quiet. Lemme begin with yesterday @ NYC. At 12 noon, we went to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. The best thing I saw there was 'Tradional Gems of India from the Mughal Era." From there we took a nice walk through the beautiful Central Park to the American Museum of Natural History. After that we had dinner @ a small little place called Chilli's. And then came 'Aida'; my first Broadway musical. It was one of the most wonderful and moving experience I have ever had and to put the mega granduer of the show in words would be a crime. If you ever come to NYC, make it a point to spend a little money and see Aida. It is wonderful. And the The Palace Theater (where Aida is currently playing) is just sooooo beautiful.
But the bestest thing about the musical was that after the show I went upto the musical director and asked for her autograph. The lady was sooo nice that she gave my her autograph, talked to me for a few minutes, asked me about my college, music class and everything! I didn't know people in showbiz were actually nice! Well I have to write a paper for my music class and I'm sure gonna write about Aida.
After Aida came movie time! We rented two really silly movies: Road Trip and Legally Blonde, and watched them till 3 am. I woke up @ 7 am today (yes, 4 hours of sleep) and came back to New Jersey. Of course there were a lot of funny, silly, exciting, hilarious, stupid, interesting, and cool things that happened in NYC in the last 3 days, but then you'll have to come here and talk to me to know it all :)
Just got back home from NYC. Phew. I had a great time there. I'll put up more details here later on. Need to clean up and shower first.
Last night was sooo much fun. We made Thanksgiving dinner all by ourselves :) and stuffed ourselves full. And then we watched Friends, Wil 'n Grace and 100 other random shows. But we went to bed early (like 2 am) cuz we decided we wanted to buy tickets for a nice broadway show this morning. So we woke up early (7 am is EARLY), took a subway to Times Square, waited in the line for 2 hours, and bought tickets for tonight for Aida - a musical. Then we hung out for 30 minutes at a new Toys 'R Us store and took unshowable pictures (unshowables cuz it's four 21-yr-olds behaving like 5 yr-olds). Haha.
Well I need to shower now, since we leave for New York Metropolitan Musuem within 30 mins. Then we go to Central Park, Ground Zero (WTC), some shopping, some food, and then Aida :)
Glass2k is getting very popular very quickly. I'll put a more detailed update later on.
Oh my God! I don't remember the last time I slept sooo late. I just woke up. Went to bed @ like 5:30 am. Well I'm in NYC right now @ Purvi's. Took me three hours to get here from New Jersey yesterday. I've go sooo many things to say but going online here on a vacation is a strict no-no!
Hey Kath and Steph! Guess what? Yesterday after you guys left me after Calc class, I met the 'Anonymous Calc Girl'. (Actually she's not anonymous anymore to me, but nobody else knows her name yet. LOL) Well we talked for quite a long time, and she hugged me Happy-Thanksgiving and I came back home. Woohoo! Things are going mmmm-good.
On train to NYC, I met an old friend (actually just a year old) and it was pretty neat to talk to him about the new things happening in his life and my life. I love chance-meetings with old friends.
After I came to NYC yesterday, we went to this restaurant called: America. I had a big 'Vinny's Veggie Burger' (and I think I'm still full because of it). Haha. And when I came back from there, guess what Peter (Purvi's friend) and I did? WE WENT GROCERY SHOPPING! It was the most difficult 45 minutes of my life. We had to buy like 10-12 items for tonight's Thanksgiving dinner and it took use THAT long just to find the items in the grocery store.
Now I have to go, shower, and cook food! Cya...
Good night world. Tomorrow is gonna be a great day. I am going to New York City to spend Thanksgiving with my cuz and her friends. Life is mmmm-good...
So far I posted Glass2k to over 20 sites. Hopefully I'll start getting hits soon. That's enuf for tonight.
I think I'm gonna die from lack of sleep. I'm still posting my software Glass2k to every major beta software site. Let's hope people like it.
Beta News: I am 99.99% done with my freeware util: Glass2k. It allows Windows 2000/XP users to make any/every window transparent/semi-transparent, like Linux or Mac Os X windows. The latest version remembers each window's transparency settings, allows you to keep any window on top, loads on Windows startup, beeps when glassify'ng a window, supports mouse and keyboard shortcuts, and allows you to customize these shortcuts. Read the Glass2k page for more details.
Please Note: Glass2k works only on Windows 2000 and XP. It will NOT work on Windows 3.1, 95, 98 and ME.
Look what I found on Microsoft's Website:
I was sooo busy yesterday w/ completing my cool new prog: Glass2k that I didn't even check my emails. I think I'm pretty much done with the basic program and will just need to add a few features here and there. I'll release the prog within this week.
Just bought a lot of X-mas tree decorations from Walmart! Will take a pic of our tree and put it up here soon.
TV is back in Afghanistan. After 5 years of ban on everything from music to TV, and dance to sports, the common man in Afghanistan is finally getting what each and every one of us takes for granted.
Just got from a Salsa Music Concert performed by the RU-Salsa Band @ Nicholas Music Center on Douglas Campus. It was one of the most wonderful musical shows that I've ever seen. I met a couple of friends (wink* wink*) there and we just hung out for a while. Then I came back home cuz I have lots of work to do.
On 1st Dec. 2001, we are having a House-Warming Party and if you are reading this, chances are that you are NOT invited. Haha. Actually it is just for my uncle/aunt's relatives, 99% of whom I don't even know. Anyways the cool thing about the party is that I'll be hosting a nice 1:30 hour game show for everyone, probably like Movie Bingo, Who-wants-to-be-hundredaire etc. Haha. So now I better get started working on them right away...
I stayed up all night and am just bout to goto bed. @ 4 am, I woke up Sneh and Sagar and we all froze ourselves out in 26F (approx -3C) temperature to catch a glimpse of the 'hundreds' of meteorites tonight. Turns out, it was more like tens. Ya, we did see one every 25-30 seconds, but that was it. Nothing like the predictions :( So I'm a bit disappointed. And now I goto bed.
Tonight is the night of shooting stars: Leonids. They say the best time is between 4 - 6 am. I doubt that I'll stay up that late (or wake up that early), but I'm going outside after an hour or so. I wonder if I'll see anything worthwhile...
I am making a new site for a client and so am surfing for free fonts. I just found this great site with hundreds of free fonts, no stupid pop-up ads, and a very easy-to-browse interface. If you do any graphics-related work, you must check it out.
Just got a really funny email. Check out:
Just got back from my buddy Sunny's play @ Rutgers : Tape. To be honest, it was beyond what I would have ever expected! The guy's a really promosing actor. So hat's off to you Sunny! You da man!
Well college was pretty neat today. Nothing that great, except that the 'Anonymous Calc Girl' is no longer anonymous. Ya... She came to class today, I struck up a nice chat with her, we talked for a few minutes, exchanged names/nicknames, gave a nice hug to each other and parted with nice words. Damn! Now I don't have any more mysteries! Haha.
Actually none of my friends know about her yet, so they are still guessing who it is! Yey! I still have a little secret. And "I'll never tell...." Atleast not this week.
I'm soooo tired from the workout. And I still have a whole day left ahead of me. Friday = Four non-stop classes! Atleast I don't have any exams today :)
Things are getting sooo boring that if I don't do something interesting soon, I'll pass out! Umm. Lemme see. Oh! I'll see if I can demystify the 'Anonymous Calc Girl' today! Yey! That'll cheer me up.
Quote for the day: "Chirag, you get more A$$ than a wedgie!" - Kathleen.
---- Hey Kath! Smile :) You just got 'Blogged! And by the way Kath, ur mad cool! (Happy now?)
Note to my Parents & Aunts & Uncles: Please ignore the above quote ;) It was a cute & innocent joke for my ears only. But then, it was too funny to be ignored and I had to immortalize it here :)
Song for the day: Answer the Phone by Sugar Ray - "Answer the phone, I know that you're home..."
Woohoo ! I'm home early! But I think I did not-that-good in both Calc2 quiz and Meteorology exam :(
Who cares! I had a pretty good day anyway!
Song for the day: One Week by Barenaked Ladies - "It's been one week since you looked at me..."
Just back home. Got a Calc quiz tomorrow and a Meteorology exam thereafter. Damn tonight I'll have to study sooo hard. I had a pretty good day @ college, and still am soooo excited from the great news I got this morning!
My best friend Chetan (on the right) is getting engaged to a pretty girl Shraddha. this Saturday!!! Oh my god! I can't believe it... This is such a good news... but then I'm sad also, since I cannot attend it :(
It's the middle of the night and I'm writing poems! God I need a brain scan. Anyways check out my new poem: If I could... Actually it is small enough to be pasted here in itself, but oh well... How hard is it to click here huh ?
Wooohoooo !!!!! Great news! My software TrayPlay, which plays mp3's, wma's, audio cd's and even videos, crossed the 10,000 mark in Download.com!!! Yey! I'm just sooo happy. Also somehow my blog and my main site Chime.tv have gotten like 500 hits per day the whole of this last week. Pleasantly weird.
Not in the mood to add any cool news-stories today. Sorry. Just check out my linx if you wanna see cool sites.
My room is the warmest and hottest room in the house (and I HATE THAT). Everyone in the house just loves my room cuz it's sooo nice and warm, but I being a Greenlandish Eskimo, love their cold rooms instead. I guess everything in life is always like this.
Oh and I forgot to say that we put up the x-mas lights outside the house today! Yey! Will take a pic someday and post it here. Till then just see what our house looks like in board daylight.
I lost in Monopoly :( Badly... Tomorrow I'm gonna win! Actually tomorrow I'm busy all day w/ studies and also have to go and see my buddy Sunny's play.
Just installed Monopoly (or Business) on my cuz bro's pc and now we're all gonna play it. Wooohoooo...
Had a surprisingly good day @ school. Began slow and boring, but then I got an A in Statistics and A in Intermediate Macro Economics. Last week I slept for 3-4 hours every night and thankfully my efforts paid off.
But in my Calc2 class I was just soooo tired you won't believe it. Wanna know how stressed out I was? I didn't even care to see if the Anonymous Calc Girl came to the class today or not! But then Meteorology was pretty neat and by the time I came home, I was feeling pretty good.
I think I selected the perfect song for the day today, unfortunately.
Wooooohoooo! Kabul Falls!!! :)
Song for the day: Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit - "It's just one of those days, when you don't want to wake up..."
Random quote of the day: I love me and you should too.
I've had it for the day. I'm shutting off my TV (actually PC-TV, that is TV on my PC) and going to study Calc2.
I hate to admit it, but I can no longer look up at a plane flying overheard and not feel afraid.
News: American Airlines jet crashes in New York City. It's just really sad that such an accident (I hope tis an accident) had to happen in NYC!!! Wasn't the WTC enuf ???
Well added to that, there is this piece of negligence from American Airlines side too. Here is a screen-capture that this guy took of ABCNews.com website. It shows a really badly placed American Airlines Ad.
Good boys don't stay up sooo late, but then I never said I was one of those good boys. Actually I'm still awake cuz I just met this cutie Jacquelin (no 'e' on the end) from Fark.com and she'z pretty fun to talk to :) Alas they always live toooooo far...
This is definitely the funniest thing I've read in weeks. It is about a mother who thought she had indigestion but was actually 8 months pregant!!!
Finally they admit what we have known forever:
"College students are among the most sleep-deprived groups in the population..."
I always wondered why I got all dazed and thunderstruck for no apparent reason on some days. Now I know.
I was talking to my cuz Priya and somehow this line came up between the chats. She said, "Doesn't it suck when you KNOW you did the right thing, but you sorta kinda wish you didn't?" How true.. how true...
Ok now this is plain friggin' stupid! Yesterday I read about this girl who slapped Prince Charles with a "flower" in public. Today I read she will get upto 15 years in prison for "endangering the health and life of a foreign dignitary." Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!
Who hasn't seen The Tourist Guy ? After the sad 9/11 WTC attacks, this fake, photoshopped image started circulating around the net, saying that it was the last pic taken on one of the WTC towers. Well soon enough people found out that it was fake and believe it or not, the tourist guy become the Net's new Waldo or Forrest Gump. People from all over the world (mostly Something Awful and Fark.com ) began photoshopping him in weird locations, right from the launch of the real Titanic, upto The Matrix movie. Now the search for the real tourist guy continues, as Wired magazine explores the latest details.
I think I did pretty good in my Music test. Oh and I did see the anonymous Calc2 girl today! Yey!!! She was looking mmmm-cute. (And Vicky 'n Steph: I'll never tell...) Haha... Actually she kinda stared @ me for about 10 secs @ one time. And I thought, God! Does she know??? LOL.. Who knows maybe next time she'll look longer... To be honest, I can just go upto her and talk to her any time, but I wanna keep the suspense alive for a little longer. Hehe.
Good news. My sister's back from the hospital. She's feeling much better and her health is recovering. Thanks to all of you who wished her get-well-soon.
I'm thinking of starting a nice collection of major Internet phenomena (funnies only), like Weeeeee, 'All your bases are belong to us', and now 'The Tourist Guy'. Will let you know when I'm done.
Done w/ my music essay. It is just sooo sucky that I feel ashamed to put it online. Sorry guys. You will not see a bad paper on this site.
Just returned from a wonderful Graduate Recital, conducted by John Eisenhauer at Rutgers Kirkpatrick Chapel. It was mostly Renaissance and Baroque Era vocal music and some of the performances were pretty great. I particularly liked Schubert's German songs sung by the RU Glee Club. My pal Andy was a part of it! Cool huh?
Now the only not-so-good thing about this whole thing is, that I have to write a 2-3 page concert paper on tonight's performances. Well as soon as I'm done w/ it, I'll post it here too (in my college papers section). Plus I gotta study for my music exam tomorrow... Arghhhhhh... Can't I just have one single night of peace and quiet ?
Ok off to Calc2 recitation! I think I just wasted like one whole hour posting stuff on Fark.com. Don't you ever go to that site... God that site can be addictive...
I'm @ school library right now. Just found this funny story about a Millionaire's weird wish. But even weirder is this guy from Tokyo, whose so-called accomplishments include inventing the floppy in 1950's! Ya, and he sayz he has won a "Gandhi World Peace Award" and "Greatest Scientist in History" award too!!! Oh yeah? And I invented glow in the dark light bulbs!

This is NOT fair!!! 4 days of non-stop studies and I still screw up my econ exams! I'm not feeling too good right now. I stayed up till 3:30 last night and woke up @ 6 am. 2 ˝ hours of sleep is a bad bad sign. And I still have to do like 10 pages of homework!!! I'm sooo stressed! But these stupid people are saying 'Stress IS GOOD' !!! MORONS!!!
I think I did good in my Stats exam. Not very sure though. Might have screwed up a couple of things. All in all, today was a pretty annoying day. I'm sleepy right now and still have to read about 150 pages for my econ. exam tomorrow :(And also today the anonymous cute girl in my Calc 2 class did not come :( So I guess I'm not gonna tell you anything more about her.
Site Update: The 'Hear' section of this site is up and running. I'll put the fun stuff and 'phernalia on soon. :)
Sometimes, to get a better grade, one has to actually stop studying and goto bed! And that's what I'm gonna do. G'Nite...
Welcome to my glamorous life! I have been studying non-stop for over 13 hours now (except 3 eat-fast-or-die breaks). And come to think of it, I have to put up with this schedule for the next 7-8 years till I become a PhD. God!!!! Why do I wanna be a PhD anyway? I dunno. I guess I just have to. Plus my mom will love me for it ;-)
As I study for my Stats exam tomorrow, I keep thinking about that anonymous cute girl in my Calc 2 class. Ah... I don't even know her name :( But I'm not gonna tell you more about her now. Let's see if I get to see her tomorrow and then I'll decide if the world is ready to know more about my secret crush. Hehe.
Just woke up and received some bad bad news! My sister has been admitted to the Belle Vue hospital cuz she has been having high fever (cuz of Typhoid) since last 2 weeks. I really hope she gets well soon...
So what if I'm still awake! Atleast I found a neat site where ppl can find the definition of almost every computer term!
That's it for tonight. I'm going to bed...
Is it a bad thing that my blog starts @ 1 am every night ? I guess atleast for tonight... cuz tomorrow I gotta get up @ like 8 and start studying damn seriously for my econ and stats exams!
I'm supposed to be studying for my damn eco exam! God my teacher sux! Tonight I study... :-(
Well today was a really really tiring day. I was at our store the whole day, rearranging the shelves and stuff. In total we moved 13 shelves and we still have like 4-5 more to go. Next weekend will be a little easier (hopefully!!!)
Phew! Finally I'm done w/ designing and scripting for this 'blog... I hope to update this daily... Ahh... Wishful thinking...
Presenting: The Chime 'BlogSat, 3rd Nov '01, 8:00 pm::
Presenting : Chime 'Blog : World's coolest simplest automated web-log !!! I always wanted to have my own blog, but I am too lazy to edit and upload a file everyday. So I finally got myself to write a neat CGI script that makes it easy for me to add/edit my blog whenever I want, wherever I want.
To edit any entry on this blog, I simply need to click on the 'Curved Arrow' on the right of any date and an Edit 'Blog window pops up. To add a new log, I click on the (+) icon on the bottom of every log page. Of course if I can click on these things, so can you! But well... do you have the 'Key' ? Muhahahaha...
